The evaluation of PAHO's results-based management (RBM) approach rigorously assessed its application across multiple criteria, including relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, coherence, and coordination. The primary objective of this evaluation was to determine whether RBM is fulfilling its intended purpose within PAHO's operations and whether it adds substantial value to the Organization's work. By scrutinizing RBM's performance, the evaluation sought to capture best practices and offer well-informed recommendations for enhancing its effectiveness. Concluded in November 2023, this comprehensive assessment is expected to yield a final report, which is anticipated to be published during the first quarter of 2024, facilitating a deeper understanding of how RBM is contributing to PAHO's mission and where opportunities for refinement exist.

This evaluation intends to critically examine PAHO's role in promoting gender equality within the health sector, both regionally and nationally. It seeks to assess the impact and effectiveness of the Organization's technical cooperation initiatives as a producer and provider, working in collaboration with key regional and national partners. The primary goal is to gauge the extent to which PAHO's efforts align with its stated objectives in advancing gender equity in health outcomes, providing insights into the organization's contributions in this crucial domain. The evaluation process was initiated in 2023, commencing with the design phase, which included the establishment of the Evaluation Reference Group, the preparation of the Terms of Reference, and the publication of these terms for the competitive selection of an external firm. This selected firm is tasked with conducting the EGEH evaluation, a task that will extend throughout the entirety of 2024.
